The Guide is available in a comprehensive online platform as well as a full-color booklet.
Now in its third edition, the Guide was supported by generous grants from the JCK Industry Fund and Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and includes new and expanded information.
“The industry has changed so much during the last decade, and it was important that the Guide reflects the jewelry industry as it is today,” said Susan Thea Posnock, Director of Public Affairs & Education. “From the sleek new design of the booklet to the comprehensive and easy-to-navigate Jewelry Careers center online, the updates shine a light on exciting opportunities for job seekers, whether they are just out of school or looking to change careers.”
Among the highlights:
- A fresh look at 12 career pathways across the supply chain. These include new sections on marketing and jewelry executives and entrepreneurs, along with information on sales and management careers on the retail and supplier sides of the business.
- New “Skills Spotlights” that demonstrate how fluency in areas like technology or finances have become essential to jewelry businesses and opened new career opportunities.
- The online version of the Guide includes updated data from the Jewelry Industry Salary Study, conducted by Jewelers of America in 2023. Users can also download an Executive Summary of the study, produced by Nan Lung Palmer of FACEts Jewelry Consulting, which provides further insight on compensation and benefits for various roles within the jewelry industry.
- New profiles and input from jewelry professionals who share how they got started and how the industry has shaped their careers and personal lives.
The printed booklet has been distributed to jewelry programs across the country, while the virtual Jewelry Careers platform will be shared with additional career centers.
